My Review Of GetGlue.com

October 21, 2010

A few months ago, I stumbled acrossed the service getglue.com. At first I thought that the service was overwhelming and that I would never use it, well a few weeks ago I decided to give getglue.com another chance and now I’m hooked. Now that I engage in more activities such a writing, reading and listening to music, it makes sense to check-in to getglue.com.

What is GetGlue.com?:
Getglue.com is a simple check-in service for everyday items. When you do an activity such as watching TV or reading a book, you check-in to getglue.com and share with others what you are doing. Check-in to a show a few times and you will become “A Fan” of that show and receive a virtual sticker, check-in more to that show and become a “Super-Fan” and earn another sticker. The more items you check into, the more stickers you’ll earn. You can earn strikers for things like ‘X’ number of check-ins per day, per month, ‘X’ number of reviews of a product or item, number of items that you like or dis-like, the list can go on. Receive 7 virtual stickers and you will be eligible to have real copies of those stickers mailed to you.

The service may sound complex and to be honest at times it can be, but only when you start to have fun and enjoy checking-in.

Here are things that I find interesting about GetGlue.com:

  • I can check-in to the shows that I like and write a review. I can then come back and see how many times that I’ve watched a particular show and when.
  • I can connect with friends from other social networks and see what they find interesting, and even find new shows, music, books and more that otherwise I would never know about.
  • I can collect stickers for things that I care about and after I’ve earned 7 stickers I can get copies of them sent to my home.
  • I can use it as a personal diary for things that I do on a daily basis.

If you like checking-in to places using Foursquare or Gowalla then you would love GetGlue.com
