A simple idea, but I would love check boxes on each Google Reader post so that I can select a number of posts and mark them as read so that I can keep specific posts unread so that I can read the important posts and avoid the unwanted ones.

Yeah this is really a much needed feature. Especially when you subscribe to feeds like engadget which in somedays post 100 or more items each day it gets really unmanageable. Doesn’t anyone in google actually use their own products?
